Easy snacking

The robots are quiet and efficient, they won’t interfere with tranquility of a library setting. All you have to do is pick your desired snack and close the lid. It is that efficient!

2019 will be incredible with fast snack delivery.

You don’t have to pay anything more for the delivery; it is quick and delivery. Also, you still have a choice because the robot contains all the options. For students in the University of Pacific, they have to download a specific mobile application that communicates with the robot.

Plan

It is an easy option for students considering the PepsiCo idea focuses on convenience. The University is on a 175-acre land with 50 designated spots for delivery. Of course, the 50 covers all major student spots hence the convenience. PepsiCo had to map the university’s land and integrate the directions to the robot’s system to ensure efficiency.

So far, everything is working perfectly. Over 5,000 students in the University of Pacific are using the mobile application to snack. It is probably the best innovation in 2019 because of its focus on a major aspect of college life, snacks.

The technology

The robots function from 9am to 5pm in the campus. Although the design is based on Robby technologies of small pets that can cover 20 miles across the street without going out of charge. Robots of a similar technology are fitted with cameras and headlights to help them navigate through darkness. Apart from the long lasting battery, the robots have an all-wheel drive capability that ensure they easily go over steep hills. This feature also focuses on convenience of college students in the 175-acre land of University of Pacific.

PepsiCo is a popular food delivery company in the United States hence the confidence and enthusiasm by students in the university on launch of the snackbots. For a test, five of the robots are already within the campus premises. While the interest and welcoming is evident by the university’s administration and student body, PepsiCo does not indicate its conclusion on the business idea. The convenience effect is evident but the food company is not taking chances with its investment.

First snackboot

It is the first generation of snackbots in campus. The future of University of Pacific seems interesting if the food delivery company decides to increase the number of robots and further the business. There is a high likelihood the robots will be increased to define future of food delivery. Obviously, this will extend to deliveries in organizations and across the street.

In the near future, you will be interacting with robots for food instead of cashiers and individuals at a counter. The innovation is a hit in food business considering people are getting more busy in the 21stcentury hence little time to sit in restaurants. At times, people are too busy even to walk from the desk to a snack vending machine. The thought that you can tap your phone for few seconds and a snack robot will be on your office door is incredible.

University of Pacific are set to a new treat in the new year. It is not clear why PepsiCo chose to test the robots in this university. It may be about the huge student population but can also be about the friendly administration policies.

Consumer needs

The robot innovation in food delivery is a balance between consumer needs and technology. Innovation in business should target specific consumer needs. In this case, convenience is the main focus of PepsiCo. While it is a strategy to boost its market rating, consumers have significant benefits from the same innovation. This is probably why PepsiCo is always ahead of the game with respect to its competitors in food delivery.

The company not only implements technology to its services but also focuses on consumer needs. The balance between consumer preferences and technology characterizes business strategies by PepsiCo. University of Pacific happens to be the first beneficiaries of the innovation. The first semester of January for the students here will be more than interesting.

Universal

While some critics focus on the 9am to 5pm operation as a disadvantage, most students are within university premises at this time. These are the most active hours in University of Pacific. The director e-commerce in the university demonstrated his enthusiasm for the innovation stating that it is a nourishing and convenient idea not only for students but the entire university’s community.

The six-wheeled snackbot is stocked with beverages and snacks at any point within the 8 hours.
